These works were inspired by the idea of ‘Appropriating Appropriation’. I specifically chose to use the work of Roy Lichtenstein as a base because his works are widely known as already subverted artworks. To explore this idea, I replicated the imagery in Roy Lichtenstein’s paintings to appropriate modern society, by twisting and re-imagining the dialogues to change the narratives.
